MONTHS BEFORE YOUR TRIP
- Check passport(s) for expiration date, renew if applicable
- Determine entry requirements of destination country, e.g. visas, immunizations, schedule as necessary
- Schedule physical if travel plans include a strenuous itinerary
- Refill all prescription drugs as necessary
- Call cell phone provider for cell reception information and dialing instructions
- Plan and schedule special outings while on trip, e.g. dinner reservations, event tickets, special tours
- Record all reservations and events on front cover of JUMPIN’ JAC travel pouch for convenient access
BEFORE YOUR TRIP
- Designate an emergency contact person at home, leave a copy of your itinerary, passport, visa and credit cards with this person
- Pack personal identification inside checked luggage, e.g. name, cell phone number and/or telephone number of destination, include emergency contract information
- Make a record of all medications, doses, doctor’s name and number, pack inside hand carry luggage
- Make certain your luggage adheres to size and weight requirements of your airline and/or tour company
- Don’t wrap gifts since all luggage and contents are subject to inspection
- Carry valuables, medications, and travel documents in your carry-on luggage
- Check the condition of your luggage, make sure bags don’t have straps or hooks which could catch and cause damage
- Pack anything that might leak inside air tight plastic bags
- Check the security requirements for your departure airport, specific restrictions apply to liquids and containers
- Learn the rules for traveling with items that are considered dangerous goods, e.g. spare batteries
- Print boarding passes 24 hours before flight, if possible
- Check your seat assignment, if you are prone to air sickness, request a seat over the wing
- Record all pertinent trip details on the front of JUMPIN’ JAC for easy reference
- File all travel documents inside JUMPIN’ JAC pouch
TRAVEL DAY
- Arrive at the airport with plenty of time to clear security check points, check wait times before leaving for the airport
- Check the airport monitor to confirm departure gate as changes can occur
- Check your boarding pass for boarding time to insure timely arrival at the gate
- Listen to announcements at the gate, they may contain important information which could affect your departure
DURING THE FLIGHT
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing and shoes for your flight
- Drink lots of liquid during the flight, stay hydrated
- Stand up and move around the cabin, if possible
